Feline Pine is a small brand in the natural cat litter industry, though they have a good market and a good reputation for their products. From its name, their brand focuses only on wood-based litters, with pine being their one and only ingredient! Feline Pine Platinum Cat Litter

What is Feline Pine?

With all the different all-natural cat litters budding today, it makes you wonder: What makes Feline Pine Cat stand out among the rest and how effective is it?

Feline Pine Cat Litter actually came from Nature’s Earth Products, all thanks to Ken Simard (the company CEO). He developed natural wood cat litter back in 1992, then began testing out different trees, as well as looked into various studies and companies. After two years, Feline Pine was born and focused on pinewood to create and produce the litters they’ve been selling since its birth.

A few years later, Arm and Hammer acquired Feline Pine in 2010. This move put Feline Pine as the number one supplier in terms of natural cat litter. Today, they still continue to produce the all-natural cat litter made of pinewood, made of reclaimed lumber shavings which are completely biodegradable.

Unique Approaches to Cat Litter

As the name suggests, Feline Pine Cat litter s based on one major ingredient: PINE. While many don’t really associate wood or pine being a good material for litter, Feline Pine aims to break that stereotype. With their company being confident about pine, they continue innovating and creating products which suit the needs of their audiences. This is what really makes them stand out compared to other all-natural and traditional brands because it’s pure pine and no chemicals.

While their selection isn’t as far and wide compared to other cat litter brands, they make sure that they only create the best with their products. Their aim is to provide that unique approach and process not many brands have to offer. Through their individual processing and quality pine materials juts like the arm and hammer, Feline Pine Cat produces the litter many people know and love today. I’ll get into more detail about their products later on!

All-Natural, Nothing Else

As mentioned, Feline Pine would focus on creating only the all-natural litter without any harsh and/or artificial chemicals and perfumes. You won’t find or smell any chemicals which can affect you and your cat’s safety, a plus side to natural litters!

Because it’s made purely of pine, you can expect it to have the natural odor-fighting features and the refreshing scent without added fragrances. Adding to that, plant extracts are also powerful ingredient to naturally remove odor from busy litter box. Being said, you can check the scoop away review to help you understand more. It’s rare to see a company create litter without such additional fragrances since many others tend to add ingredients to increase its performance. Not for Feline Pine Cat Litter, which only utilizes Mother Nature into their litter.

As they become the number one supplier of natural cat litter, you know they’re doing something right! It just goes to show that pinewood can be good material as long as it’s processed correctly and with expertise.

No Trees Were Harmed

When I began learning more about Feline Pine Cat, I started thinking how many trees were used for this? For those who used pinewood, it can take a toll on any existing or new trees, right?

While you might presume that Feline Pine would have to cut down trees just to create their litter, that’s not the case. All of the wood and pine materials collected by Feline Pine actually come from kiln-dried shavings which were reclaimed from lumber production.

Meaning, the litter is made through using waste products made when trees are processed for other things. No new trees were harmed throughout the process and the company even ensures that all parts of any used trees are utilized, including the waste products. This can be very beneficial and help the environment while giving the trees as much use to prevent wastage.

Lightweight and Easy Handling

One of the added benefits all of the Fine Pine Cat materials has to offer is its lightweight properties. When using natural materials like pine compared to clay or crystals, you’ll notice that wood is even lighter. That way, you’re able to easily carry a bag or empty the litter box filled with pine compared to other materials. It makes handling less of a hassle and you won’t be straining or struggling with heavy packs.

In fact, pine shavings are actually one of the lightest litter materials made today. There’s a significant difference when handling pinewood litter compared to the traditional clay litter. And fortunately, even if it IS lighter, a bag of natural cat litter will last as one as traditional varieties, if not even longer. So it’s easy to handle AND longer-lasting, which is what you need in cat litter.

Great Prices

What I’m surprised with is the range of sizes that Feline Cat has to offer. While they don’t have as many litter types compared to other brands, they do have a lot of size options to choose from. You can select sizes as light as eight pounds up to a whopping 40 pounds, which is great for either single or multi-cat households.

Furthermore, one consistent advantage of Feline Pine Cat has to offer is the amazing prices. Comparing it to other all-natural litters and those made with similar ingredients, they are actually quite affordable. In fact, they’re one of the cheapest on the natural cat litter market, great for those on a budget but still want something natural that performs amazingly. This is such a refreshing take on natural cat litter, as most of the similar products would come off as expensive!

Need Clumping or Non-Clumping?

One neutral point I want to mention about Feline Pine Cat Litter is the fact that it has a small selection. In fact, they only have TWO types, which is clumping or non-clumping.

While this may be seen as a disadvantage to some who want something specialized for their cat (such as multi-cat households or extra odor control), this can actually be an advantage, too. You know that these litter products aren’t mass produced but utilize a special formula that keeps the consistency of performance.

Furthermore, they have the two most important types of cat litter, which ensure that the litter caters to most interested audiences. You can avail either the non-clumping or clumping products, which both have their own benefits. You still have a choice and can select one that benefits you and your cat’s individual preferences in the long run.

Where to Buy Feline Pine

Feline Pine Cat Liter isn’t exactly familiar everywhere you go, though you can contact your local pet store to see if they carry it. If not, you can easily find it online from their official website or third-party websites like Amazon. Just make sure that you select reputable online sellers, too!

You’re also able to avail any promos and discounts they have to offer. Feline Pine Cat would sometimes release paper coupons from magazines, though not as often. But you can save from other websites, offering discounts and/or free shipping to have you save more on money and effort in purchasing.

The Feline Pine Cat Review

Based on my research and tests, these are the two best Feline Pine Cat Litters and what I thought of it:

1. Feline Pine Original Non-Clumping Litter

I want to start off with their clumping litter type, which is obviously made of pure pine fibers and wood. Pine is actually one of the top natural materials to use in litters, as it’s very absorbent. This stops liquid from reaching the bottom of your litter box and creating smells or messy clumps.

Besides this, pine is naturally a bacteria killer, which is what I want to see in cat litters. It destroys the bacteria found in your cat’s urine, which also prevents the smell from coming out.

As for its dusting, you can expect that this litter is completely dust-free, made best for those who are prone to allergies or are sensitive to dust around the room. This is thanks to its non-clay production!

Furthermore, expect there to be NO unnatural or artificial scents wafting around when using the litter. I actually loved the fact that it had such a pleasant and refreshing scent. It smelled a bit like pine and nature rather than the weird chemicals my cats and I hate.

As for its texture, it’s pretty soft and I feel like my cat enjoys stepping on it, encouraging him to do his business. Plus, since it’s chemical-free, it’s completely safe to use and easy to clean. All in all, it’s a great product to invest in.

2. Feline Pine Natural Clumping Cat Litter

There are a few differences between the non-clumping and clumping litter type manufactured by Feline Pine Cat. However, it’s just a similar material, just formed in different ways.

While it’s still made from all-natural pine and utilizes its natural properties to destroy odor and bacteria, it just doesn’t clump. While clumping litter is made of small grains to clump together, this litter is made with pellets. This makes it have the larger material which disintegrates to fine sawdust after your cats do their business.

What I like about the pellet size is that the dry litter won’t get attached to cat fur, which decreases the chicness of tracking. But the fine sawdust may dust a bit, which is only a minor issue.

As for its absorption abilities, it’s excellent and you’ll love its odor control abilities, which keeps your home smelling fresh the entire time.

Overall, this is an excellent choice of litter if you don’t like clumping but still have the ease of cleaning. It holds on its own for days at a time, lasting longer before requiring replacement.

What Other People Think

So the Feline Pine Cat Litter is pretty good on my side and I would highly recommend it to those who want something all-natural. However, it’s not just MY opinion that matters, but also the many other reviewers to see if the litter really does live up to its name. After checking out various reviews, here are the common points the Feline Pine Cat litter products have:

Most of the customer reviews note that they appreciate the litter because of its eco-friendliness. Compared to using traditional clay-based litters, they are much better to the environment and don’t go through harsh processes like mining and the like. It’s great for those who want to save the planet in their own small ways.

There were actually mixed reviews with the clumping abilities of the litter. While people are happy with the clumping ability as a natural litter, others are less than satisfied. Take note, pine clumps aren’t as strong as clay, which would break apart quicker compared to the latter. However, this is a common complaint about all pine-based litters, so it’s not the company’s fault.

You can find reasonable reviews in terms of tracking, though there are some complaints. While the pellet-based litter would not track at all if unused, it tends to begin tracking after it brakes down into sawdust consistency. After mixing with urine, it may track a bit. With the clumping variety, there is only minor tracking.

This is actually the crucial factor we need to look into when choosing cat litter. Your cats need to approve of it for it to be effective! Fortunately, all cats loved the Feline Pine cat litter, even if they can be quite fussy. This is probably because of the soft feel of the litter, which cats would like.

Odor Elimination

Most of the reviews on odor elimination were positive, as it only comes with the pinewood’s natural odor-killing properties. Many praised the fact that the litter tray stays fresh for a long time, with the home actually smelling better because of it. This is a quite n impressive feat for cat litter, and because it comes with no artificial ingredients, it’s even more impressive!

Because Feline Pine Cat Litter isn’t made of clay, expect it to be less dusty compared to other products available. While there might be an extremely small amount of dust present, it’s generally dust-free. This makes it easier to clean and handle because of less dust. Plus, it’s advantageous for sensitive owners and cats who are prone to allergies.

Scooping and Cleaning

There are very mixed reviews when it comes to cleaning up the litter. While many people rave about the clumping litter for its ease of cleaning (even if it breaks apart a bit), some found trouble in scooping up the non-clumping litter. This is because the non-clumping sawdust may end up mixing with unused litter which would have you waste more litter than you’d expect.

Wrapping It Up

If you’re looking for a unique and lightweight cat litter made with all-natural materials, then you’ll enjoy Feline Pine products. They offer superb performance and would make cleaning easier, without the horrid odors. While it does have its minor drawbacks, it’s still worth the investment and you get more than your money’s worth with it.

Overall, I would recommend Feline Pine for those who want the more natural approach with the ease of use! I hope that this Feline Pine Cat Litter review helped you find the right natural cat litter for you. So don’t wait any longer and see if Feline Pine is right for you now!
