The jumbo Petmate Hi-Back has an open top and a listed 23-inch format. Its high rear wall offers a different shape from a uniformly low pan while leaving the top accessible for scooping.

Before you choose

The lower access point and usable floor area are the measurements to compare for your cat. The 23-inch description alone does not establish either. High sides can help contain activity inside the box, but placement and litter depth still matter.

Distinguish rear-wall height from entrance height

The Hi-Back's outside dimensions are listed at 23.08 by 18.8 by 12.1 inches. The tallest rear section is part of that overall shape, so the 12.1-inch figure should not be used as a measured entry step. If access is the deciding factor, request the actual opening height and compare it with the pan your cat currently uses.

Mark the complete outside footprint in the planned location and allow room for a litter mat and scooping access. The open top makes cleaning reachable from above, but you still need enough space to lift the pan or work around its sides. A spot beneath a low shelf may fit the rim while limiting your hand and scoop.

The higher back offers a different wall arrangement from the lower open Iris pan. Compare that geometry with how litter is displaced in your current setup rather than assuming a taller wall will contain every type of activity.
